Alpha · first test version in early November
One archive for your paperwork.
Receipts, contracts, correspondence, appointments and projects — in one application where everything refers to everything else, instead of five programs that know nothing of each other.
What lies underneath
One application for what life needs organising — receipts, contracts, correspondence, appointments, projects.
From the inbox into the archive
Scans, emails and notes land in the inbox. Undan reads them — text recognition runs on your computer —, recognises the type and fills in folder, file name and fields such as amount, due date and IBAN. You check, “Done” files it, as

Gmail and your own mailbox via IMAP, Google Calendar, your contacts, tasks in projects and notes in Markdown. The invoice hangs on the task, the email on the contact, the appointment on the project — one archive instead of five islands.
Your files stay yours
Everything is stored as ordinary folders and files in your documents folder — readable with any other program. What Undan knows about your documents is stored as files right next to them. Syncing between your own devices runs through Syncthing, with no cloud in between. Should Undan ever disappear, the folders remain.
Keyboard first — and fast
Every function works from the keyboard. The command palette finds every command, keys like Gmail and Superhuman or like Outlook, every one of them can be remapped;
F1shows them all. Search runs on your own index on your computer, not on the web.Ctrl+K Ctrl+Z F1 The keyboardDictation in any app
Ctrl+Shift+Space , talk, and the text is there — in every field in Undan and, on Linux, in your browser, terminal or word processor too. The speech models run on your computer, with no network and no account; nothing you say leaves it.
Alpha — what works, what doesn't yet
Undan is being built right now and is not public yet. Everything listed as built is in daily use on Linux, with real accounts. The blog says what's new.
Built
- Inbox: scans with text recognition on your computer, emails and notes; a proposal per file, filing with one click.
- Documents: folder tree, table with facts, a search with its own language, preview, signing PDFs.
- Notes in Markdown with links, tasks in project notes, Today and Upcoming.
- Calendar with Google (week, month, agenda), mail via Gmail and IMAP, contacts with Google.
- AI chat about your whole archive — documents, emails, appointments, contacts, tasks — with Claude or a local model; you accept proposals with one click.
- Dictation on your computer — in Undan and, on Linux, in every other program, also as an instruction for the AI.
- Interface in German and English, switchable without a restart.
Not yet
- macOS and Windows: the application is designed for them, but hasn't been tested there yet. Installers exist only for Linux so far (AppImage, .deb).
- Phone: an Android app is in progress.
- Permission model for the AI: finer than today, changeable per session — planned.
- iCloud and Microsoft 365 accounts: planned, not built.
- Syncing between devices is something you set up yourself with Syncthing.
- First test version: planned for early November 2026. Prices are not decided yet.
